Group Biography (translation by Google)

Like the famous Swiss Army Knife, the Geneva Brass Quintet is a chamber music group of many talents. Its warm and brilliant sound lends itself as well to the chiseled fugue of Bach as to the soft whisper of a stroll by Cosma, or to a traditional alphorn melody. She knows how to be powerful to give the answer to an organ, a big band, a harmony, but also full of sweetness to accompany a choir, a pan flute and even a harp. The ensemble also likes to associate with other disciplines such as history or science. Not to mention the children, since he has already created two shows for them.

The Geneva Brass Quintet is an ardent defender of Swiss culture and regularly includes in its programs works by Swiss composers, such as Richard Dubugnon Jean-François Michel, Étienne Crausaz or Daniel Schnyder. He regularly orders new original pieces to expand his repertoire.

The ensemble wishes to present this original repertoire during its frequent international tours, thus placing itself as one of the main Swiss ambassadors of chamber music for brass. He has notably been invited to the Cervantino Festival (Mexico), to the SliderAsia (Hong Kong), to the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival (South Korea) as well as to the Brassurround (Spain).

Comfortable on all terrains, the quintet has performed in various circumstances: on a boat in the underground lake of Saint-Léonard, feet in the water at the Pâquis baths in Geneva, in shanty towns in South Africa. South, on the Great Wall of China, but also in the most beautiful concert halls, such as the Victoria Hall in Geneva.

Created in 2001, the Geneva Brass Quintet brings together musicians who all hold a master’s degree from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève. He participates in the organization of the Geneva Brass Festival, an international event dedicated to brass, which has taken place every year in Geneva since 2010. Regularly invited to the Schubertiade d’Espace 2, he has recorded three albums in his image: eclectic. These have been particularly praised by critics.
