Biography

David Sampson earned degrees at the Curtis Institute of Music, Hunter College, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Ecoles d’Art Americaines in Paris. He studied composition with Karel Husa and John Corigliano, among others. From 1998-2007, he was Composer-in-Residence with the Colonial Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey. In 2006, he was awarded a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. He also has received grants from several major arts endowments. Sampson has served on the board of the Composers Guild of New Jersey and the Advisory Board of the Bergen Foundation.
